Zorb South UK - Review

My sister and father recently went Zorbing with ZorbSouth and were kind enough to provide MyExperienceDays with a review of their day out!

Just in case you are not aware a Zorb is a gigantic inflatable sphere, standing about three metres in height, which contains another smaller sphere that is suspended into position by a thousand nylon strands. It has been described as the “latest adrenaline surging fix of fun”.

One innocent day before Christmas, me and my Dad were talking about how going Zorbing would be a lot of fun. I say innocent because I don’t think either of us had any intention of ever going. This is where my Mum steps in. she booked a dual-harness Zorb ride for the both of us. There was no way of backing out without looking silly. So on the 11th of May we officially became Zorbonauts.

The day started with a two hour car drive down to Dorchester where we met my Grandfather, who I’m sure only came so that he could laugh at the pair of us. Then there was the long walk down to the reception area, down the hill that we would later be travelling down at a much greater speed. We then had to sign in and stand together on some massive scales. A little part of me hoped that we would be too heavy but this was not the case. We were then asked to remove all jewellery, watches and even my hair clips had to go. Luckily for us lots of people were late so we got to go straight up.

We took our shoes off and walked to the waiting area, with a definite nervous feeling in my stomach. Then we were loaded in to a truck with the Zorb attached to the back and we were driven back up the hill. At the top we then had to negotiate getting into the Zorb, a challenge I had not been expecting. Then we were firmly strapped in and the ride began. It started off slowly and I was the first to go upside-down. Then the Zorb picked up upped and I forgot all about being scared. The whole thing can’t of lasted more than two minutes, and apparently I screamed the whole way down, but it was one of the best and most interesting experiences. You have no concept of where you are during the ride and I was definitely unsteady on my feet afterwards, but it is something I would certainly recommend to others. You even get a certificate! I guess next time I will have to try the Hydro-Zorb, but for now I am enjoying having my feet firmly back on the ground.
