Sir Alan’s Treats!

Experience days, days out, fun days, days to remember all good names to describe what Pete and I write about, yet all of these words must fall from our vocabulary. Sir Alan has spoken, and in this post you will only hear of treats!

Sometimes they reward hard work, but in most cases they seem to be a great way to reward the team that made the least mess of the weeks challenge. But there is good news for you and I. We can still easily enjoy Sugar’s treats without spending weeks running round London, working day and night trying to make money selling fish or cleaning dirty laundry, trying hard to impress the boss and of course desperately evading the now iconic pointed finger and ‘Your Fired’.

So here is a quick look back at some of the best treats from season 3…

In week 5 project manager Natalie was fired by Sir Alan for being out of her depth while leading the Eclipse team in a challenge that involved selling arty photographs. The task was won by Stealth and they were rewarded with a pampering session at Champneys.

The Sausage Saga was the title given to the task for week 6. The title goes a long way to mask what most of the country will most readily remember about the candidates visit to a farmer’s market: Stealth selling Macro cheese to the French! Yet Eclipse shouldn’t be forgotten for trying to flog English tea to a coffee drinking French public. They did win the task however, and they were sent from the boardroom for a indoor vertical sky diving treat.

The 97 Pence Victory. In a classic Apprentice task the teams where had to purchase a set of 10 items from a list devised by Sir Alan. Crucially they were under strict instructions to pay less than the asking price, which severe penalties for overpayment or failing to buy an item. The team that spent the least won. Adam was fired when Stealth failed, which opened the door for Eclipse to spend the day driving exotic racing cars.

Week 8 saw the teams branding a trainer. Their brief was simple, create a logo, video advertisement and a poster and for a new style of trainers. Stealth’s TV ad had the highest productions values, yet it was highly criticised for not getting the brand message across effectively. All important points, but all I can seem to remember is Simon’s ‘urban’ dancing! In the end Ghazal got fired for being ‘all talk and no do’. Eclipse where rewarded with a lesson at a Cocktail school.

Next week on the blog…We take a look at the first few weeks of this years Apprentice so you can live it up like a 2008 business wannabe.

For the moment, at least, Sir Alan’s search for his favourite treat continues…
