Great British Days Out (Part 2)

I really enjoyed putting together the first part of our Great British Days Out last week, so I’m pleased to tell you that I’ve got even more days out for you this week. Let’s start with the strangest name…

Go Ape!
Over the last few years experience days have become more and more exciting, original and in some cases bizarre (sphering anyone?), but this experience is back to basics - literally. Go Ape is best described as a high wire forest adventure park. There’s nothing to worry about, as all safety equipment is provided for you, but believe me you still feel like tarzan when you are skipping across rope bridges, tearing down zip lines and swinging around the forest on the trapezes all unsupervised. Go Ape currently have sites in Bucks, Devon and Cumbria.

Find Out More: Midweek prices start from £20 and they are even running a 2 for 1 offer on some packages.

Tour of Kensington Palace:
Now it’s time for something altogether more relaxed and refined. Off to the palace for a spot of tea and some freshly baked scones. I would say this is the perfect reward for parents that have just spend the previous weekend with the kids at the above forest adventure park!

Your afternoon at the palace starts with a tour of the house, which was a formed home to the Princess of Wales. Guides will take you round the building in a relaxed manner and explain much Kensington’s interesting history. The tour finishes in St James’ Resturant where afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones and pastries are all provided.

Classic Lunch Cruise and London Eye Trip for Two
If the palace isn’t your thing and you want an afternoon with more of a city feel to it then you can’t go far wrong with this next experience. £95 buys a 3 course meal for two (most will be happy to hear this is on a trendy river boat rather than last weeks amphibious duck) followed by a ‘flight’ for two on the eye. Considering the cost of two individual London Eye tickets then the total price for this afternoon including lunch seemed very reasonable to us.

I’m sorry, that alongside others like ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’ must be one of the most over used expressions, yet here it fits nicely.

Here’s a great chance to visit all the areas of the your favorite football stadium, normally closed to the public. I’ve got a list of four grounds that offer family tours for a reasonable price, but of course it’s possible to visit other clubs that aren’t listed here, just look for the Sporting Days Out link after this post.

Most tours follow a similar format; you can expect to visit the home dressing room, dug out, tunnel and even the press conference room, but it’s worth choosing your club form the list below to find out exactly what’s on offer at each ground.

Family Tour of Stamford Bridge £48
Family Tour of Manchester United £39
Family Tour of Emirates Stadium £35
Family Tour of St. James’ Park £39
