Now that Easter is has been and gone, we have all eaten the last remaining crumbs of our Easter egg chocolate it’s time to start looking forward to the Spring! I love this time of year because after a long cold winter the sky starts to brighten, grey gives way to blue and we can finally all get outside again.
So this week Pete and I have found you a great collection of outdoor experience days. Keeping with the theme of the post some are true British Classics, while others are a little different, but why not ?
Let the adventure begin…
Lets Go Walking
Ok, for all the reasons above you are ready to get outside, best start BIG! Scafell Pike is England’s highest mountain (that’s 3209ft, incase anyone wants to impress a Geography teacher later) and it’s a great walk. Unfortunately walking of this scale normally demands in-depth local knowledge and lots of expensive specialist equipment. Fortunately for £65 you can get a whole day of both. Guides normally meet you at around 9 or 10 in the morning, after a short briefing you jump into the provided walking gear and set off. By lunch time you’ll be at the top and by the end of the day you should have collected enough adventure stories and photos to make everyone back at work or school nice and jealous. Superb.

When Rain Comes Down
There’s no getting away from it, sooner or later it will rain. With that thought it’s worth keeping a few ‘emergency plans’ in the back of your mind. Here one that’s worth a visit:
Madame Tussauds in London is of course the only way you can spend you indoor day with stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Kylie and Brad Pitt. But there’s more to Tussauds than wax. The Chamber of Horrors located deep in the building should be enough to keep the lot of you on your toes, I won’t give anymore away now, but don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Tip: Visit after 5pm and tickets are half price (Kids down to £10 and Adults down to £12.50)

Thrill-Seekers
I think I’ve been very lucky. Firstly I love roller coasters and secondly I’ve been to Alton Towers LOTS! This time of year is normally quieter for the park, so I would suggest a sneaky trip between now and when the schools get off as even the weekends are good this time of year.
Tip: Alton Towers are running an offer until the 7th of April allowing you to save over 40% on the cost of a ticket.

Visit Paradise
Paradise Wildlife Park, just off the M25 that is!
This must be the ultimate animal lovers day out. £58 will by 2 adults and 2 children a full day at the park. There is a huge collection of big cats (including a Snow Leopard) as well as a rainforest exhibition and even some camels. If you want to get even closer it’s possible to spend a day feeding the animals. Unlike most zoos you will be allows to bring four friends and feed more than just one animal - zebras, camels, birds, reptiles and meerkats are the norm. You also get standard park admission and a 90 minute behind the scenes tour. All they ask is that you wear old clothes!

Duck!
Staying with animal theme it’s now time to say hello to a Duck. Seasoned visitors to Florida will remember the weird and wonderful amphibious craft driving in and out of the water. Now they are in London too and the 75 minute trip will take you from Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square where it slips into the River Thames. £43 for two adults or £74 for two adults and two children.
